I hope you will not "bee" annoyed by this question.

Do any of you ABers here keep bees, and if so what do you feed them? Is is sugar in water? If so then how do you know that they are aliens from "Men in Black" then? Tell us the basics of beekeeping in a nutshell. They will not sting unless you annoy them, or they don't like your aftershave (this is not a joke, by the way).
Lastly, can we have a free jar of honey?

For the novice or just interested, I'd recommend "The Beekeeper's Handbook," Third Edition [Paperback] by Alphonse Avitable and Diana Sammataro... I have a well worn and dog-eared copy that I still reference (along with some cataloged information from our State University) especially relating to diseases in bees.
It is relatively simple (yes, the bees are fed sugar water {about two tablespoons per quart} in a "bee feeder, the history of which is at least 200 years old) but one has to be dedicted and it can be reasonably expensive just to get started... nevertheless, it's highly satisfying as an art and a hobby...
