so very sad about this young lady, but I would like to ask two questions,
Whatever happened to innocent until found guilty?
and just how long have the British media etc. been elected to be both judge and jury on these sort of cases? I don't think that he should be named until after the first court appearance, he will never get a fair trial, the media have seen to that. but also, I think make the punishment fit the crime.

what are you talking about?
The Bristol murder of course, I agree the guys photo and details were plastered all over the place. They found out who he was from the electoral roll. It shouldn't be allowed until at least after the guy has been charged!
I've just finished an excellent book called "The Invention of Murder". If you think present day media is bad, you should have a look at it & see how the Victorians behaved.
This is how it has always been. The innocent are paraded on the media and their lives ruined. There should be no mention of them until found guilty.
Unfortunately in any case in this country this is a standard practice.
As an example I can put my case:
Me and my partner were accused of excessive noise by our neighbours and were subjects to ASBO. Number of POLICE visits proved nothing. Each visit I had been given a case number and off course nothing to report or act upon. The council still insisted and send "spy's" at various time of the day to supposedly catch us out but no evidence of any kind was ever available. Finally the council installed a recording device next door without our knowledge and one day we were summoned to the housing office to be interviewed. The way we were handled it was like we are some kind of criminals however facts were far different from what my neighbours have painted and when the offices went out to examine the recording, our noise level was 2 db higher then the noise my elderly neighbours make on daily bases.
Did we ever got any apologies? Yeah right. It was only my good will not to prosecute for deformation that I do regret now since we no longer live in that house but the abuse keeps coming.
