Turkish honour killings

Did anyone see this program the other night? It was about Turkish parents trying to marry their daugters off and when the girls refuse they murder them and make it look like suicide, or tell them that they need to kill themselves because if the father does it he will go to jail.
As a parent I can't comprehend how anyone could do this to their child just to save face.

I saw it on more4 I think, it was on about 2 am so it may of been a repeat.
I don't pay any attention to religion as I personal think they are all bs, so no I had never heard of this. There was a young girl ( in her 20's) who was crying because she still loved her father and felt bad for running away.

it's not just Turkey that has this, Honour killings occur all over the Muslim world. Essentially if their daughters fall in love with someone not on the approved list, or refuse an arranged marraige, they are murdered to preserve what passes for "honour" for these savages.

Wherever it happens its just so sad. How can anyone do that to a child they are suppose to love.

I agree that it seems unbelievable that anybody could harm or kill their own child. To do so to restore honour to their family is a pathetic excuse.

Regardless of religion or anything else it is just wrong. It defies belief that in 2011 such things still happen to females.
