Can you please advise? My grand-daughter, age 10, is forever having time off from school because `she doesn`t feel well` and again she is off to-day, admittedly when my O/H and I visited yesterday she had a temperature and a sore throat, but other times I think she is just too lazy, like her mother, whom deserted them over a year ago for another woman. Could it be she is pining for the bitch, or could it be tonsillitis?

BTW and IMO - as you suggest - those changes to your grand-daughter could be not too far away, not related to this illness, but girls do mature early these days. Might be hard for her, without her mum around to talk to.

"lazy like her mother"
wow, this is your 10 year old grandchild. perhaps, after her mother leaving, she doesn't want to lose sight of her father? perhaps she is being bullied? perhaps she is actually really unhappy and picking up on the tensions of her relatives?
I can't believe your first reaction was "laziness", poor child. she's 10.. how about a bit of empathy?
