Do I need a plumber to disconnect my gas cooker which has the new bayonet fitting or can I do it myself, I mean is it legal for me to do it myself and can I just plug the new electric cooker in at the cooker socket as it's a fairly new property? Thanks in advance

If it has a new bayonet fitting you can just unplug it yourself.
An electric cooker won't plug into a socket, it will be hard-wired into a 30 amp supply.
Don't forget to check your cooker's installation requirements ......... it might need a 40A or a 45A supply.

I got it all done for £69, that is the gas cooker disconnected, pipe sealed and capped, the new cooker had to be hard wired into the little white box behind it, they also took away the old one. Thanks for all your help
