As promised to Sallabananananas.. here's my lil review:
It's dead good! Not what I anticipated and certainly not what the middle aged couple with their son sat between them that were next to us anticipated! Oh how they squirmed at the rudey bits!
Overall I found it very evocative and quite intense at times but a very beautifully made film. I think it captured the essence of the story perfectly and was definitely my idea of a 'proper' film.
It's very European in style, a lot of symbolism in mise en scene, so if you enjoy your European cinema or more arty films then you're sure to like this but I did hear a few people leaving the cinema saying just how they thought it was weird and my grilfriend was a little surprised at how dark it was, bordering on scary at points, so it's by no means for everyone.
So, in summary, I really, really enjoyed it!
Now I'm off to learn how to write a decent fim review!
In my opinion that was a very decent film review Paul - well done! It has certainly made me want to go and see it. Still not sure whether the BF will like it - but I'm not averse to going to the cinema on my own.
Thanks for that - Black Swan for me, Barney's Version for me, True Grit for the two of us.... sorted x
I`ve just been to see this film. I was totally underwelmed. Maybe I wasn`t expecting a psychological thriller. Not my cup of tea. There were a few laughs in the cinema where there weren`t meant to be laughs. Lots of people seemed to be a bit bemused by it afterwards.
