Unbelievable pet owners

I read today that a woman had returned a Jack Russell pup to a rescue centre after only one day, as it clashed with her curtains. Am I alone in my total disgust ?

We get this at our Cat Rescue Scylax. Some excuses are; We didn't realise how much hair they shed or they don't get on with next door but three's cat! Then they bring them back & expect to get their donation back which we refuse!

I have my my own black/white lab/collie and I keep my friend's 4 little dogs for four days a week. The sofa they have colonised is green leather, but I have never thought of suggesting my friend should have her dogs dyed to colour match it.
My own dog is very thoughtful - she sheds her hair in the black and white tiled hall.

Eddie - thanks for link to the pet strollers. I live pretty close to my vet but have a bad back and lugging the thugs to the vet is a nightmare. I was going to buy cat harnesses but would up with totally freaked out cats.

My first cat was from Cats Protection and they underestimated his age (they said he was 3 and the vet said 13) and my dad told me to take it back and get another one. He wasn't being cruel or nasty - he just didn't understand loving a furry friend.

I wonder if people who treat animals with such contempt should be allowed to have children - are they going to take the kiddies back when they become difficult?

This really takes the cake!!!!

Perhaps one of the computer literate ABers could start a Register for unsuitable owners which Kennels and Rescue centers (or anyone) can login to for free to check suitability of prospective owners, and report such. The difficulty would be the proof of unsuitability but that may be overcome by media and RSPCA reports.
