My immediate thought is that the answer to sophie's OP is 31.
Forget that, JonnyBoy12- I mistyped my last one.
I think I meant to type:
11- (1/0.99999... recurring), which arguably gives an answer which doesn't quite reach 10

Tambo- I think you've simply answered a different question to the one sophie asked
I think it would help if sophie could confirm that we have understood her question correctly so 31 is the answer.
The only other possible correct interpretation of the question is prudie's

i really don't know. i had a maths exam today and last night my friend was doing last minute revision and came across a question that said '16 3/4' so i presumed it was 16 3/4 of something but apparently not. anyway maths exam is done now and it turned out there were no fractions in it.. it was actually quite a good paper! thanks anyway!
