ickle???

Hi, I'm new here...from U.S.- busy enjoying the Harry Potter books but I keep coming across the word "ickle" which is not in any American dictionary I have found..anyone know what it means?

Not having read any Harry Potter books (I prefer real books), I don't know the context in which "ickle" is being used, but here some people like to use "ickle" as a cute way of saying "little".

ickle means small.little.

It is used as a dialect word up t'North (where I am)

I hadn't realised it was a northern dialect word - I always thought it came about in imitation of the way a child would say "little".

Skids, I just to have comment on your remark "I read real books..." -- I'm not a Harry Potter fan so it's not like I'm being biased, but what an awful thing to say!  It IS a real book -- and anything that gets children and young adults to read is what's important!  Layla asked you for a definition of a word -- not your opinion on the subject matter!  How ignorant, not to mention rude!
