do doctors not get updates?
14 Answers
Hi everyone, really just wanted to vent my frustration from the doctors today!
I went to see about contraception i intended to have the implant and was recommended to try the pill that was similar hormones as the implant first to see if it was suitable etc which is quite a good idea. Got my prescription and went into town to be told by the pharmacist that what i had been prescribed was under manufacturing dificulties and isn't available! Not too impressed i have just googled it and it has been unavailable to most since october! Surely the doctor should have known this or do they not keep updated on what they prescibe i can't be the only one who will now have to make another appointment to change the prescription, wasting an appointment to me!

My husband's anti rejection drugs went through similar 'manufacturing difficulties' a few years ago, in fact Boots were supposed to contact us when they got them back in but we've still never heard from them!
Are you talking about Cerazette? My friend was told by our Doctor the other week that they had stopped making it and she would have to use an alternative. I went to the same Drs a week or so later and was given a prescription no problem, I also had no problem whatsoever getting the pills (last week). Try phoning a few chemists etc to see who has any, deliveries are getting through but are in short supply.
I know its not life-saving medication or anything but has taken me since september to pick up enough courage to make an appointment and go to it! I really hate doctors surgeries. I tried phoning and they were shut early being a friday so will have to wait until monday morning but on the prescription it says that they do not take prescription requests over the phone so may well have to go and have another appointment. The pharmacy i went to said that no one around here (middle of nowhere in wales) had any left so i think it is definately an alternative!
Also, it may not be "life-saving," but it is not good having contraception messed around with. I know there are other methods, but after missing a Pill or two, you're supposed to use two types of contraception until the Pill kicks in again (for a week?). I wonder how many people do this accurately and how many unwanted pregnancies result from this sort of confusion.
