I thought I was bad enough having 7 odd socks. Have never thrown any out so I just dont know where they go to. I tend to keep them just in case the other turns up or they all fade to the same colour eventually. We now have to wear black socks at work, so I`ll buy the same sort in future and wont have this problem.

I suppose if you wear two pairs in winter like I used to you could wear the odd ones underneath
