Clue is "7 Down or bottle"  (7).  G_N_A_N  but could be G_N_A_T.

7 down clue is "unopened" and the answer to this assumed to be CLOSED.

This is Gardening Answers, and this is the only one that is bugging us still.  Thanks everyone for your anticipated quick response - as normal!

It could be CONTAIN if your 'G' is wrong.

The G comes from Fleur de Lys for example. (4).

We thought this was FLAG

Fleur de Lys could be L'ARC - as in L'arc de Triomphe, but it's just a wild guess.

We thought this was flag.  Hence the G is the first letter of 7 down or bottle ..... I am totally confused bow!!!

Fleur- de- Lis could also be the Iris or Lily.

But iris  or lily do not fit in either ...

Lily would make the bottle Y - N - A - N (or T)

Iris would make it S - N - A - N (or T)

Perhaps closed could be wrong...it could be locked or sealed...
just a thought...the letters you give don't come up in any word finder that I put them into. More confusion!!!

I think CLOSED is OK as it fits in with everything else.

I only included this as the answer that is confusing us is the one that makes reference to 7 down (which is the one we have Closed for).....  UGH
