anti virus

i need to put an anti virus on my pc

a free one if poss

maybe from dowload.com??

my norton has run out

I use Avast, as recommended by someone on here. It's free and seems pretty good so far.

All if them are about as good as each other when it comes to free AV, personally I'd go for MSE these days.

i have just noticed something called s3tray plus int he bottom right hand corner

i have only just noticed it

but it may have been there for a while

should i remove it

Try AVG - reeccomended by my PC suppliers, who build them into all their PC's - it;s free off the web.

It's the control panel for your graphics driver. it's not strictly needed but easier to leave it.

i tried to download avast from downloads.com
but it said it was not available in this country
(free anyway)

im not good at this sort of stuff

AVG is easy to load - stick it in Google, and opt for the 'free version. Simples.

what country are you in? I'm in the UK and had no trouble downloading it. Are you clicking on the left-hand one, Avast Free Antivirus?

i reccoment avg free edition as a free one, kept my computer clean for years

in answer to one of the questions

yes i am in uk


and yes i clicked the one on the left

at the top it sayed it was blocked from downloading it

so i unblocked it to allow

it then comes up with a free upgrade

which i filled in my name / email detials

thats when i get the wrong country message!!

so still no futher

i know i am not a whizz kid

but never had this much trouble downloading stuff in the past
