Didn't really know where to put this question - but I'll try here !
My company (quite a large one) is completely changing our uniform. I made enquiries as to whether there had been any thought given to recycling our old ones (they're quite big into recycling). My boss thought it was an excellent idea & would like to donate to a third world charity -
Trouble is, I have now been charged with the task of choosing which charity - in particular one that would make good use of clothing items (or, I know there are some that shred clothing - but I don't know what they do with it afterwards ???)
Has anyone got any suggestions ?
We are talking around 2,000 employees with, at a guess 6 items of uniform each
(all the same colour - of course !)
Good luck and a good idea. When my company (also large) did this we had to strictly destroy the lot because it was logo'd and they didn't want to end up seeing it worn on TV in a political riot or something!
Deb - what a brill idea of yours and your companies for agreeing to it. If plan is for 3rd world country, would think Oxfam might be best - sure they would be only to willing to help you out
there are lots of charities who work in 3rd world countries. worldvision is just one. you could do a google search and email a few, and ask them what they'd do with such a donation. you might feel inspired by their responses.
