How can I word a Thank You letter to a Host Family who looked after my son so well, when he did volunteer work abroad ?

Dear X, thank you for your kindness in looking after my son, it meant a great deal to us to know that he was in the safe hands of another family while he was far from home; he has told us how well you insert here whatever it was they did for him and we know how much he has gained from the experiences he had while with you.

My Precious One Floyd,

I write this letter as I traditionally made this every year as an anniversary surprise. Along with this letter is my gift to you with a ribbon on top of it. I intend to write a letter to you yearly for the reason that each year my love to you becomes deeper and sweeter as the years goes by.
