For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.I put some sliced potato and carrot on the bottom and sit the chicken on it after sealing it in a pan. Then pour some boiled water from the kettle in and put it on low in the morning (9-10am ish) and we have it about 4pm (ish). Always do it this way and will prob never cook a chicken in the oven ever again.
If it doesn't look like it will be ready in time for tea I put it on high.

ooh - i did it, and it was sooo good!
rubbed the chicken with salt pepper and sweet smoked paprika and sat it on a layer of baby potatoes, baby carrots and swede chunks.
I just covered the veg at the bottomwith water, put it breast side down and left it on low for 8 hours.
Got home from work, thickened the juice and pulled the meat - delish!
