Why won't the magenta print?

My printer (Brother DCP-350C) has worked fine up to now but is now printing/photocopying colour material with the magenta component missing. I have put in a brand-new magenta cartridge and done alll the usual cleaning. The Ink Volume indicator says that the magenta ink is full but the magenta won't print.

How do I fix it? Suggestions gratefully welcomed.

Run a head clean in the printer's utilities - then try a test page.
If your printer utility offers a 'deep clean' facility, run it. If that doesn't work, run it again . . and again . . . and
I've needed to run the deep cleaning utility 7 times before now. Until the first 5 cycles were complete, the situation didn't seem to improve at all. (The missing colour refused to appear at all). After the 6th cycle the colour was present, but with banding. After the 7th, everything was perfect!

Thanks, folks. I've tried the routine cleaning cycle several times. I'll see if there's a deep clean facility.

Thanks again, folks. My printer doesn't have a deep-clean facility but after using the normal clean facility 6 times, the yellow parts (which should have been red) turned to orange. After another six they turned to red. So all is well.
