Mself and my husband are getting a divorce. He is a sole trader ie business is in his name but I have worked alongside him from the staqrt and have built it up moreso than him. He also owns half of another property. Things are getting vvery nasty now and he has asked me to leave .. the business is a pub and we and my four children live on the property. His other property is half owned by him and his mother. call around your local solicitors, some will offer an intial free consultation to give basic advise.

All divorces are different.
Does he own the pub - the actual building? Is it his livelihood?

Does his mother live in the other property? On what basis is it owned?

Are the children his? If not, are they supported by their father?

Impossible to give any answers based on the limited information you have given.
This is very good advice jacs. You need to sort out your legal position as quickly as possible, and as well as the CAB, many solicitors give an initial free consultation. Does the pub belong to your husband, or is he the manager? Morning Redcrx - is the car yours? x
As expensive as they are, in this case you must get a solicitor.

They are the people who know what you are entitled to by law, and will try their hardest to get it.
As advised by the others, a solicitor is absolutely essential. As redcrx says, all divorces are different. You can usually get a free first consultation. Find a company that has a good reputation for divorce and family matters (perhaps through the CAB) and explain your financial position. Don't leave your homeuntil you have seen a socilitor. You are probably entitled to a lot more than you may think, espcially as you have children.

Have you got a good friend that will go along with you to a solicitor? It's quite an emotional thing for you to have to do and it's good to have another pair of ears to take in what you are told by the solicitor and to give you moral support.

Good luck.

Hi thanks for all the replies. In answer to some of your quastions - my husband owns the pub, in his name only, we have been married for three years, the children are not his, but my ex husband, who was evil, so I know what a divorce is about. My mother in law and my husband own a different property - I have been paying half that mortgage for five years too - instead of getting wages. I have also been contributing half to mortgage on pub even though both are not in my name. Now can you see whay I call myself stupid. My husband has now changed all bank accounts, and I have no money at all coming in. As I have no wage slips, but have a husband who has all these assets, I am entitled to know benefrit and no legal aid. There is approx 150 000 equity in his mothers house and 300,000 in pub. Just to further show how stupid I am - when my husband of now bought this pub, I had 50,000 from divorce settlement. I put it straight into pub account as pub was not doing so well at first. I have nothing in writing to show this, as I trusted my husband. Also all the money from CSA - 500 per month for past five years from ex husband has also gone into business. Furthermore I have ahd no actual wages from start - five years. SO money my husband has put in has been borrowed money which I am paying back, and I have put in actual cash., but as nothing is in writing, what am I entitled to?
Only a solicitor can help you work out how much you have put in and what you can get out of it.

Honestly ~ a legal person has the means and intelligence, especially as they are working for YOU. Just because you don't have it in writing doesn't mean you cannot get your money.

My husbands ex wife managed it ~ and she didn't put a penny in..just a good solicitor!
All the more reason to get yourself down to a solicitor Jacs.
You will be surprised at what they might come up with. Take advantage of that first free appointment as soon as you possibly can. Print out your last posting on here and take it with you. There will be evidence of all your contributions in bank statements, etc. I am sure a reasonable solicitor will come to an agreement with you about any future payments due to them. They are very used to cases such as yours.

as advised you need the help of a good solicitor there is still such a thing as legal aid and you may be entitled to it please dont just let things be think of your children if nothing else stand up to him show him what your worth which is alot more than you think make a stand
Bank Statements showing money leaving your account, and to what account it was transferred to is proof.
The £50,000 would have had to left your bank account and entered the pubs bank account. Your banks statements will prove this.

If paid by cheque your bank can verify this, if your ex has stopped you having access to these accounts, make a general application to a court, will cost you about £40 but you can request the court order the bank to give you access to the bank statements!
