changing energy suppliers

I requested to change energy suppliers six months ago and it still hasn't happened. Needless to say I'm really unhappy about it, especially since I've been told that imy request cannot be cancelled once it has been instigated. Is anyone aware of any regulatory time limits that this has to happen within?

Which companies are you trying to switch between and do you have any outstanding debt with the company that you are wishing to switch form? Even something as small as a few pence of debt can cause a block on the switch.
