How much electricity does a marine life aquarium require?

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.Dependant as Chuck says on A) Size, B) Type of lighting employed, C) Filter, D) Pumping equipment etc etc etc. To work out the actual cost you would need to know the power usage of each item of equipment and work out from there. I believe that the modern light tubes are more efficient but as for the rest well, for one it's all on all day usually 365 days per year and that can ramp up the cost a bit! Seek advice at your local fish shop, if they think they're on for a big sale they might be more than helpful!

It also depends what kind of marine life you have in the aquarium. Tropical marine might need heating in the winter and temperate might need cooling in the summer. Withou more information it is only possible to guess, but any tank no longer than 6ft and indoors shouldn't cost more than £5 per week, but as I said it depends...
