If you mean where the poem is set, then it is in Auld Ayr, wham ne'er a toun surpasses for honest men and bonnie lasses. The action takes place in Alloway's auld hauntit kirk, which still stands in Ayr, opposite a centre for things Burns in Alloway. PS did you know that Burns also wrote a song called cock up your beaver, which, like the phrase homo erectus isn't as exciting as you might at first think...
