Are Mediums & Clairvoyants Evil?
31 Answers
To some people the gifts of those that claim to communicate with the dead or can see future events are classed as demonic or deceivers. If a person (whether religious or not ) was told that a missing member of their family could be located by a medium, would they believe it or with evidence, change their mind or then question their belief?

Those of you who've ever read my posts will know I usually fall down on the side of "whatever gets you through" but these people get my goat - they prey on vulnerable people.
If anyone thinks they're genuine - and I include those fakes on tv too - read Derren Browne's latest book and he'll tell yo the history of the spiritualist movement, mediums and tv charlatans, and how the do what they do.

I grew up in Zimbabwe where demon activity and witchcraft are literally a part of people's daily lives. In the old days Zimbabweans did not have access to medication or doctors so they used Nyangas - which is basically an African wich doctor - to heal illness. The healing involves contacting spirits and it is an extremeely dangerous (and considered proffesional) business. Many of the Nyangas are good and use thoer powers to really help people but others use their powers for evil and this is a very frightening and real business. Placing curses upon your enemys is an unfortunate part of Zimbabwean culture and many people are killed or have their lives ruined through this. I actually had a friend who was killed in tragic circumstances after upsetting a powerful nyanga.
Coincidentally in Zimbabawe you can also see ghosts anytime you like - if you go into the rural areas an night you we see small orbs of fireflying around. I know this sounds bizaree but just ask any Zimbabwean - you can literally go and see them any time.

Whatever any of us believe in, there are many people that have gifts (if that's the right word) that we personally can't explain or have had no experience with to make a conclusion, but we will anyway because that is what keeps these topics alive.
There are many that follow religion(of any culture) and there are those that do not. For those that do, I am glad they have found what they need. For those that do not, this does not mean that we are inferior to those who read the bible or have not found our own peace through different means.

A bit late I know but what about the mediums who help the police? Such as Alison Duboir from which the tv programme stems. Has anyone ever watched Psychic Detectives? Real everyday people who help the police and are never paid. Detectives worldwide are both suprised and thankful to these people who come forward to help solve crimes.
