Probably gonna get some flack for this but, my job is to phone people and ask them if they would like to take part in surveys. I don't want to sell anyone anything and I make that very clear when i speak to people and my introduction probably takes up a maximum of 10 seconds of a persons time. I understand that people might not want to take part in surveys, if they say they don't want to thats fine and I won't call them again. But no, instead of that i have people screaming at me, swearing at me and calling me all the names under the sun every day, five days a week. Why is this,? Why are people who I assume are reasonably regular, nice people most of the time so enraged by somebody asking for a bit of their time? Why can't they just say 'No, thankyou'

I'm never rude unless provoked and often take part in surveys, when I say provoked, I mean for example, at our old house people constantly rang asking for a Mr Maine who did not live there. I would always say politely. He doesn't live here, we get a lot of calls, will you please remove us from your list. one man insisted on then trying to sell something to me, even though he'd got the wrong house and I wasn;t interested, I think I just hung up. I used to have to call people when I was working for the tax office, people seem to think its okay to shout at you because of the distance I think. They can release some tension and not have to deal with consequences. Its awfully unfair especially seen as most phone companies operate a telephone preference service for free which removes your name and number from lists given to such companies
Here's one for you. I'm a door to door market researcher. Now with normal surveys I can understand why people reject me, however, I'm usually succesfull with my quotas.........

Now I've been promoted to working on viewing figures and in return for taking part members of the public get paid 120 minimum a year.......yet as soon as they see my I.D. and little laptop they tell me to $$ off. I've been assaulted on 2 occasions and had my car pelted with rocks. The ironic thing is, I'm not even cold calling, they get a card through the post telling them whats involved and that I will be calling in the next few weeks......again, I'm always succesfull with quotas but why the bad attitude??

I fully understand if someone is busy, people do have priorities, but why hide behind a wall and pretend your not there when I knock or say 'I'm not interested' before I've even mentioned the fact that you get paid........When an idiot is rude I always want to say to them 'well, you'd inherited half a million from your great aunt, but now your not interested I've just ticked the box and it will be passed to the government'...sweet vengence!
I've been working at a market research firm for 2 years now working through college and I'm so sick of you assholes that dont have the patience to say "no thank you." But Luke I just got off work! Hey how the flump am i supposed to no that? What should I say sorry boss not gonna call at 8 o clock they might be putting thier kids to bed. Its really not difficult people you get off your fat ass, you answer the phone and if you dont want to take it... OMG you only have to say no and hang up. If you have ever yelled at them, flump you and get educated on the subject, each call i make is a job IM WORKING FOR MONEY NOT PLEASURE.
