fragmentation of computer files

Since my pc preformed a fragmentation I have a home movie on my desktop which as been divided into two files with the same name but the small version only a few kb in size is a THM format? What is this can I remove it or is it required to play movie?

A THM file is just a Thumbnail file that is often used in clip-art lists etc...

I don't think it has anything to do with you defragmenting, the .THM file is the thumbnail preview of the movie, you can delete it and the movie will still play fine

thank you so much both of you, yes i have a cannon camera as well and your link johne says these are esp common with cannons.
