I've got a bit of a cold at the mo and my voice keeps disappearing then going really high pitched etc. Anyway my husband keeps telling me I sound like Janine Butcher - which has led me to ask, what is wrong with her voice? Quite often her voice goes really high pitched like it's bad or whatever. If you watch Eastenders, I hope you know what I mean!

She has Partington Malbeck syndrome which causes her oesophagus to swell in times of stress constricting her vocal chords so that air passes over them more quickly so making her voice go higher. It's common in Holland due to their diet of seafood and chips.
