My Philips TV is playing up. First noticed that, intermittently, the volume would not alter both using  the remote and the set buttons. Now when turned on, 99% of the time, it is showing no picture however if you catch it in a good mood it will come on but won't change channel, access Sky, etc. It appears to be frozen.

Is it worth repairing or replacing?

Thanks

Depending on it's age you may be cheaper dumping it and getting yourself down Currys and buying a new one. CRT'S have come down in price quite a bit since LCD'S AND PLASMAS were launched. Depending on it's age and condition a repair may be too expensive.

Would you say 4 years is old for something which cost 700.00?
4 years isn't old. But with televisions it's the luck of the draw. Some don't last ten months and others last ten years.

Definitely worth looking for a good reputable, experienced TV repair chap/chapess. They can do wonders at relatively little cost if it's just something fairly simple.

I am sure it's worth a few pounds to get a quote. Obviously something more major like the tube, which it isn't in this case, is a different story.
