Ipod formatting

I think my ipod has been formatted for a Mac instead of for Windows. When I look at the settings, the last item on it is a serial number beginning with M instead of saying formatted for Windows. The CD doesn't seem to work because I have a newer version of itunes on my PC. I wonder what would happen if I uninstalled that version of itunes first - would I lose my music? I have no music on my ipod right now but I've tried resetting it with no joy. Any suggestions would be great.

format your iPod.

your iPod would have come with this software (i'm not talking about iTunes here). If not, you can download the latest version here:

Use that for format your iPod
