Thanks this my daughter again with this quiz,here's how the story goes.

A group of 20 people stranded on an island,made a raft,4 set sail on the raft to the mainland,taking 1 hour with all four rowing,whats the shortest time to get everybody safely to the mainland??

Does it take 4 people to row?1 hour there 1hour back 1 man coming back on his own can he he row the raft alone my head is spinning please tell me the answer

Would the four people, on arriving at the mainland, not just seek help and send one big boat out to get the other 16?

do they mean everybody as in everybody on the island or
everybody as in everybody on the raft ???

maybe the only people who want to be saved are the 4 on the raft the others are happy to stay on the island.

I assume they mean everyone on the island. It would take 1 person 4 hours to row back by himself and so you have to work out the optimum number of rowers which I assume is 2 but I dunno (it's a bit late) :-)

maybe they made more rafts at the same time, each carring 4 people, so it took them all an hour to get to the mainland as each raft had 4 people..
