Boy George ????????Osbourne '''said on TV that the forthcoming increase in duty on petrol ,, has been passed on by the previous Labour government?? Have i missed something?? I thought the CONS were in power at the moment....

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.believe there is automatic clause for the increase that needs to be repealed in the House.......and hence the budget will be used for moving that as part of the overall acceptance of it when it goes to House endorsement. The question would have been if there hadnt been the pressure on prices would the Coalition still gone for the rise - Libs wanting green action for example......
Petrol has been rising above inflation since the sixties. Its the exchequers 5th highest tax category and without it income tax would have to rise by 15%.
