Has anyone bought, via the internet, any DVD of a film which does not match the original cinema film? How can I guarantee this i.e. address of supplier?

ty Mark but what's a reliable supplier? My experience with an obvious major supplier has been to receive "special"(inferior versions).

There's quite often "special" editions released on DVD - directors cut / extended cut / ...
i have built up a large collection of films.Early on i bought one from an ebay seller of Titanic....turned out to be a copy shot from a camera in a cinema in Japan....saw the audiance...heard them. My advice.....buy from places like amazon....play.com
Sometimes you can get the dvd with both versions of the film. Both theatrical and extended cut. They can be hard to get sometimes. When I was looking for the Untitled version of Almost Famous I was lucky to find it easilly on amazon. I think it is quite hard to get in America for example.

Mark, my problem has been Amazon. In response to my complaint about the mismatch between the DVDs and original cinema version was that they buy the DVD's from another supplier and cannot guarantee what I really want.
