Having a blood test on Fri, to determine whether I suffer from it or not, but I am also aware that if it comes back positive I have to have a colon biopsy performed! Why do you need the two tests, and which end to they stick the camera into? ;-)

The blood test is to determine antibodies to your bowel cells.

You will need a Colonoscopy (up the back passage) to exclude any associated disorder and to confirm the diagnosis of Coeliac Disease.

My little boy had these tests last year. The doc went to his intestine with a tube down his throat. This can be done whilst awake in adults and older children but as he was just 3 at the time he was knocked out for it. i was told by the docs that the blood test is a very good indicator if coeliac disease is present but to be 100% certain the 2nd step of the biopsy is necessary.
