Companies paying for eye tests

Do all companies have to pay for their employees to have eye tests if the employee requests one or are there any exclusions that would mean an employer could refuse to pay?

It just depends on the companies policy and whether you need good eyesight to do your job or do you need to wear safety glasses when doing your job

It's not a legal issue, they don't have to pay but often they do for VDU users etc. Depends on how tight the company is.

My understanding is that if you are a VDU user to a sufficient extent they have to provide a test and if you need glasses (for the VDU, that differ in prescription to what you need for reading/distance) provide a basic pair.

My son has just had a free eye test and is getting a free pair of glasses. This is because he needs safety glasses.
