Spain in March

I am off to Spain (Calella nr Barcelona) at the end of March - it will be around 16-18 degrees according to the Weather websites - I am just wondering whether this is flip flops and shorts weather or if I need to take my Uggs? Just wondering what to take with me clothes wise - Thanks

Mixed bag of weather as Squad says. You could be lucky and get fabulous weather or it could be really cold or wet. I wouldn't think Ugg boots will be required though, but neither probably will flip flop or shorts. Take jeans/cropped trousers/skirts and short and long sleeved tops and a couple of warm sweaters and a lightweight jacket and you should be OK. I would take some covered in shoes and some sandals too. Think England in May and you will be about right.

Yup - sound advice from Lottie there.

Because there is no high temperature during the day, things will cool quickly in the evenings, so you will need a light cardie or jacket.

in the day, sheltered places when the sun is out will be nice, but it could be breezy and showery, so go out prepared.

However the weather is - you will be in Spain - lovely people, fabulous food and drink, clean air, and not here!

You will also notice that the natives will be wrapped up to the nines because they will think it is quite cold. The holiday makers are usually the ones dressed inappropriately in holiday gear of shorts and T shirts in all weathers.

Mind you we get that here in North Norfolk in the summer. You can always tell who is on holiday and who lives here!!

You will enjoy yourself, as Andy says. Spain is great!

We visited Calella in March a couple of years ago, weather a bit changeable, warmish during the day, chilly at night, with a couple of days of rain. Certainly not hot enough for walking around in shorts, but on sheltered balcony in sun they were fine.
If you go into Barcelona, which is a short train ride away, put your valuables inside your coat, do not put cameras on show, and hold on to your purse at all times. Mine (bright pink) was taken from my handbag, which was zipped shut, whilst we climbed onto the train -the rest of the time I had my hand over the zip but had to hold on to the handrail to climb up. The station in Barcelona is notorious for this happening, the police know it goes on, but nothing is done about it. I didn't even know it had gone till we reached the hotel.

Not shorts and flip flop weather goldi, it'll be like our early Spring here, and the nights will be chilly!.......take a warm jacket!.......you will need it!.......

jamesnan - we had a similar experience in Mabella years ago - as we got pushed and shoved getting on a bus, my wife's bag was unzipped and her purse taken without her realising.

Because pickpockets use 'sensation transference' - the concept of firm body contact to distract from the theft action, buses and trains are ideal places because, as anyone who travels in Europe knows, Europeans don't do 'queuing' so this is when tourists are most vulnerable.
