Over helpful digital recorder

Our digital recorder is fine in every way but it has an annoying habit of sometimes recording the recorded programme again when it is repeated or when it comes on the +1 channel.

I've checked every setting I can find and made sure I'm not asking it to record the series, but no luck. Its only a problem when I've set to record something esle at the time of the repeat and want to watch something else. Then it gives me a message that we have a clash. Because it doesn't always do it, I can't seem to work out how to stop it.

Any ideas anyone?

Mine does this sometimes and I find if I look in 'timers' that is where it is set and I can remove the planned timed recordings.

Thanks mamy, glad its not only me! I do scrub in from the timer, but I'm usually shouting at it by this point because I wanted it to be recording somthing else!

I'd love to know how to stop it doing it in the beginning...........

My trick is to check the timer box before the start of any planned recordings, I now do it as a matter of course. Mine is Hitachi too.

You haven't said whether you have tried re-booting the box.Ron.

Thanks for replying, yes i have rebooted it a number of times sincve I've had it.

I've had it over a year now and its forever doing it. I'm hopeful someone might be able to think of a setting I can change or stumble across a similar conversation in a forum somewhere and let me know the answer.

Why didn't I think of that Scotman?
I've googled Hitcachi, found a customer service email address and pinged the same question to them now.
Lets see if they reply. Thanks for the suggestion, it was obvious but I hadn't thought to do that.
