Would someone explain step by step how to get a CV from my laptop onto my iphone 4. starting with scanning existing A4 sheet CVs. Someone at work said I need to convert it to PDF?

You could convert it to a PDF and then email it to yourself

The simplest way would be to email it to yourself and pick up the email on your phone. a pdf format is pretty universal so is able to be opened on many devices with a pdf reader on it. How to convert to pdf depends on the current format and the software on your laptop. Please give a bit more info
