Do all Japanese place names end with a vowel?

Well, how bizzare. They do appear to. Maybe it's something to do with the translation into western script from the Japanese 'symbols'.

Ah naz, the answer is no then! It's not been something I've given much thought to but noticed there was a lot due to the news coverage

The majority of the letters of the Japanese alphabet comprise a consonant plus a vowel sound. Thus for the English letter 'k', for example, the Japanese have five letters pronounced 'ka, ke, ki, ko, ku'. So using their alphabet, placenames will end in a vowel sound. The exception to this is their letter 'n', which has no following vowel sound. Easy.
