Royal Mail Local Collect.
12 Answers
I was getting a package delivered the other day but no one was home when the post man arrived so they left a note with the different options available. You can call to collect it, have it redelivered to your's or someone else's address or else have the item delivered to a local post office chosen by you. The latter option is called Local Collect.
I'm just wondering is there any way to use Local Collect by having certain items delivered straight to the local post office for collection? Say for example I tell the sender of the mail to send it to my name but to send the item directly to my local post office from where I can collect it and pay the fee?

It's hard to find an actual email address to send to. The form I filled out asking about this was sent and I put my email address on it, but it didn't show the email delivery address. I then got an email back saying that my email was received but telling me not to reply to the email sent back to me as it would be automatically deleted.
You can arrange for all post that needs to be signed for or is too large to go through your post box to go direct to your local Post Office, for those times that you're not in. You need to set this up with your local delivery office, I think the details are on the card that is left through your door. I doubt your local Post Office would be very pleased about receiving mail addressed to you at their address when you're not resident or work there.
Also, if items are addressed to the local Post Office then it would not be a Local Collect. At least with Local Collect you know that the Post Office sign for the items left with them. They then scan them into their system and when you collect them they are scanned out. This way there is always a record of your item and where it is.
