I'm getting sick of taking sandwiches to work, that get boring after a bit. And the canteen at my place is great - it's just a shame it doesn't have the food to match it.

So...

What you recommend taking? Preferably quick recipes that are fill you up and are on the healthy side. One week I work 6am-3pm, and the next week 3pm-12am. So keep that in mind.

Thanks.

Scotch eggs, quiche, samosas, pasta salad, cous cous and falafel....

I wouldn't take bloody sandwiches either.

i just had a really nice tuna salad. Do you have access to a microwave for jackets/pastas?
what about innocent veg pots?
Get one of those wide necked flasks and take homemade soups/stews with a crusty bread roll or two for dipping.

Oh well no flask needed just some good microwave safe storage boxes and you can take any soup/stew/pasta dish you like or as mentioned above do jacket spuds.

Cornish pasties, pies, curry, chilli, in fact the choice is yours if you have a microwave. But if that is going to be a bit much, don't dismiss sandwiches too quickly - especialy if you do the same filling (s) and bread day in day out, - ring the changes with crusty/soft rolls, brown/granary/white/ rye bread, or try using tortilla wraps or fill pitta breads. Crispbreads, pate, cheeses, dips, chicken drumsticks roasted with various flavours - eg herbs and garlic or BBQ take a salad box or coleslaw or potato salad
When I was at work (retired now) there was a mess room (no canteen) with a gas cooker supplied, I used to take a tin of rice pudding & my own saucepan & have delicious hot rice pudding.Fab.Ron.
A few ideas taken from things I eat at lunch time.
Early shift
Pitta bread. lettuce.pate or houmous
Soup and roll
Salad and fruit mix
Pasta salad

Later shift
Jacket potato with cheese and beans
Pasta in sauce reheated in microwave
Left overs from stews and casseroles
Spaghetti hoops on toast (Take a cheap toaster in if you haven't got one, it'll be a great addition to the evening shift!")
Noodles and a tin of soup
