Can anyone tell me why RAF High Wycombe is no longer known as Strike Command? It's now called Air Command.

They've probably amalgamated units. When I was in the RAF many years ago Bomber Command and Coastal Command were joined to form Strike Command.

Ah I see. To be honest, I was a little concerned it might be because they no longer liked the 'sound' of Strike Command.

Do you know if it's true that that base was once a very high target to attacks in the UK?

Last year, or the year before the three commands changes their names. HQ Land Forces became HQ Land Command, Strike Command became HQ Air Command etc. This happens every few years or so. for instance in my time we have gone from HQ United Kingdon Land Forces to HQ Land Forces to HQ Land Command or simply LAND.
