Cash Card

Does anyone know if there's such a thing as a cash card yet? One which I could load with cash and give to someone else to withdraw at an ATM?

I'd like to send money as a present but would prefer not to use cheque or postal order as its not "instant" for the recipient. Any ideas of the modern way to give money in this way?

you can buy a prepaid credit card which you or they can top up. Once used that's it, unless you wanna keep topping up. Try a card shop like clintons.

I use Ikobo to send money to people in several different countries. You pay money in and Ikobo sends the recipient a pre-paid Visa card, which can be used at any Visa ATM. Once they've got the card, anyone can top-up their balance online:

ikobo looks interesting too thanks, might be a little expensive and elaborate for my £25 gift this time but worth knowing about
I could try the post office tomorrow too perhaps? That's if I can find one in this day and age!

I sent gift cards - admittedly you can only use them at the shops in question but some of them can be used in several stores (eg the Burton group) - then the recipient can use just part of the amount if they don't want to spend it all.

Thanks Box tops - I really wanted one which can be converted to cash somewhere. The money is for either travel, food or entrance fees on a UK weekend break.

If you send an uncrossed postal order then all the recipient would have to do is pop down their local Post Office to cash it. It's as instant as popping down to an ATM.

Maid I would go for postal order - just send it recorded delivery

Travelex Cash Card?? After the recipient has used up your gift, they could keep it to load up themselves for travelling money etc.

Sainsbury (I think) advertise a card which you put the money on, and then keep half the card yourself, and give the other one to they suggest, a student. This means that the "student" can buy food etc from their local stores, and if necessary "mum" tops the card up at home.
I hope this makes sense to you but it would seem to be an answer
