Brighton I think. Brighton was pretty important in British cinema (or photography) for some reason.
But then I remember Britain's oldest cinema (or at least I remember this was their claim) was in Paignton. But this could be Britain's oldest cinema STILL RUNNING.
at first they showed films in barns, music halls, whatever. It was a while before they started producing purpose-built ones. The Duke of York in Brighton and Phoenix in East Finchley have been going since 1910, though I don't know if this has been continuous. This one claims to be 'the oldest purpose-built, continuously operated cinema in the World' and it may be true.
