What does the proverb "its not over until its over" mean?

never say die, don't count your chickens till they're hatched, or similar expressions.... it means you haven't lost, or won, until the final whistle blows; until then, anything is possible.

Althought there was a cartoon character called Yogi Bear, this was based on a real fella by name
