Yep, I'd say you just about hit the nail on the head. I would disagree that everyone wants world peace. There are career military people ( you know the type - father and grandpa wer both Colonels in the Guards etc etc - basically public schoolboys who have no business acumen) and arms manufacturers / dealers who would shudder at the thought.
Woofgang, of course you are right but I'm looking at a bigger picture, more along the lines of "war and conflict" rather than two guys fighting over some tart in the pub.
territory, wealth and power will in most cases dissolve if we no longer had oil and religion.
I'm not a political animal and I know this could get very political.
Alexander the great didn't do it for oil or religion, nether did Kublai Khan or the Roman Empire. Wars and conflicts get bigger as people have the technology to travel further and do more damage more easily.
I accept what you are saying Woofgang and agree with you but this is a very different day and age, humanity has changed, we war over different things these days, I'm looking more to the future than the past. I think you are also saying that no matter what, we will always find something else to war over.
World peace can definitely be achieved Ratter, it takes a number of people in Government to start a war from each country, round them up put them in a field & shoot the b@sdards that way thousands survive "Simples"
