Singing lessons at school to the radio!
7 Answers
Did any of you have to sing to Mr Appleby on the radio at school for music lessons. The teacher would turn the radio on at 11am and we had song sheets and sing, Greensleeves and Nymphs and Shepherds, the teacher would watch us and keep control! This would be in the 1950's.

The last song in the book always seemed to be a good one to shout along to, though: Bonny Was a Warrior (way-ay-oh), or Michael Finnegan (he grew whiskers on his chinnegan) .
The spookiest part was how Mr Appleby could obviously HEAR you through the school radio. He was always saying things like "Now THAT wasn't very good, was it? Let's try it again, and this time let's open our mouths really wide..."
