My daughter did this for two years for another more jewish sounding chemist, the training was erratic in that for 6 months she would just be working in the shop and never got into the dispensary, the modules were made by the company so they were rather sparse and she left to make some real money.
Hi I used to be a manager at Boots and we did a proper training package run by the pharmacist.  Although I never did the course I did the basic one which I found very interesting and really enjoyed it.  The pay (like all retail) isn't brilliant (I think it was about 16k once qualified) but I got loads of discount on Boots products and a bonus.  Not too bad a job all round though

I'm a trained Pharmacy Dispenser (amongst other things) where I work.  I had no formal training, just on the job stuff.  I no longer work in the Dispensary as I do not feel I had sufficient knowledge to answer the kind of questions the patients had.  Unfortunately there is no formal qualification needed, just someone overseeing the whole operation with a Pharmacy/Medical Degree.

hi ive just passed the lloyds dispensing assistants programme which is the first of 3/4 that you can do. It was hard as the branch i work in is very busy and there wasn't much time for me to actually do the training , but with my determination i got through it. Im not intirely sure about the benifits yet, i was more intersted in getting the nvq's as i enjoy the job. I think if you haven't worked in a pharmacy before you will need to do the MCA first which is the medical counter assitant or health care assistants programme first. hope this helps, your welcome to email me at [email protected] if you would like to know more . bluesapphire xx
