This never fails to make me cry (especially as One Is To Be A Grandmother in 4 months' time). And especially that the last little babe to be born was called Daniel - and the Son who is to make One A Grandmother is my Daniel Spaniel.

The really young couple, the 20 year old girl with awful black & missing teeth, and her 21 year old boyfriend were absolutely adorable - but I just wanted to do something about her teeth. 'In my day' we had free dental care when pregnant - wasn't any offered to this poor young lass? She was quite a pretty little thing and if her teeth were fixed she would look so different. How, in this day and age, can a 20 year old end up with teeth in such a state? And dentician is so important in pregnancy - why didn't someone advise and help her?

Didn't see the prog Sal, but when my MIL was expecting her first (my hubby) all the goodness went to the baby so she lost her teeth. (55 years ago tho)

Maybe she'll be doing something about the teeth after the baby was born. Not straightaway of course.

I too had free dental treatment during pregnancy and for 1 year afterwards.

Years ago alba that was true - it happened to my mum also. But I was shocked in this day and age that a 20 year old girl had such appalling teeth and that in 9 months of pregnancy no-one had told her about free dental treatment. Still, what do I know - maybe she was, but declined it. I just thought it a shame for health and looks reasons.
I wonder if she did refuse, she might be terrified of dentists.

It is a shame though.
I saw it, Sal.. I can only assume she hasn't seen a dentist for most of her life. it would have been free while she was a child, and free if she was on benefits (one can only assume..). I think she's made her choice.

you're right though, a pretty girl with horrific teeth. such a shame.
This going to come across as heartless, but the mouth I am imagining is not pretty, could someone suggest that she doesn't kiss her baby with her mouthful of bacteria?

Such a shame sara, for whatever reason. I don't mean to be derogatory or assumptive about her upbringing, but her mother (as much as I ended up quite liking her) didn't look the sort to have encouraged good dental hygiene.

p.s. on the subject of looks and youth - you know that lad we were talking about last week - the one with the big head and all that hair on Munroe? He was in the drama about Christopher Isherwood on BBC2 at the weekend - playing Isherwood's brother. He had an even worse namby pamby wavy hairstyle on that - it definitely IS the hair the poor thing's forced to have, rather than he himself. The things one has to do for one's art.....!
well hey, some of us are stuck with big hair, lol!

although his was quite exceptional ;o)

Big hair on a woman is admirable. But.... do you know, I've got to stop getting at this young lad.

anyway, back to more pleasant issues - childbirth.... I loved it when the woman who was labouring over her 5th boy turned round and told her husband "F... Off....". I had to laugh.
I saw that as well, her teeth were disgusting. She may have a phobia of dentists but I just hope that she can get her teeth sorted out some other way. Maybe in a hospital under general.
I love hearing what women say to their OH's when in labour.

When I was haviing our first, I wanted my OH to rub my back really hard, he said "I don't want to hurt you" I told him it was too effing late for that!!
I loved the one the week before when the woman was in pain (obviously) and the guy was eating chips. He asked her if she fancied a chip! Lol

I'd have rammed the chips up his backside.... I don't see this every week so missed that one!
The chips would be wedgies :)

The male nurse asked my OH if he wanted tea and toast. He looked at me pleadingly... well, it was 6am so I let him.
