Hi, you kindly offered me some advice about my hot water problem yesterday. Tonight I have noticed that when the boiler fires itself (which it does sporadically) that I can see flames behind the gas fire where the boiler lives. Is this ok or am I suddenly noticing it because I think it is broken? Thanks.

Hi.

You had better check that carefully again. If there are flames emitting behind the fire .. maybe from the back boiler heat exchanger, it will have to be investigated ASAP.
You had better take a good look, and if confirmed, get onto (your landlord??) Maybe you have an immersion you can use whilst problem being looked at?
