Reanault Scenic starter motor
Hi all....we have a Y reg Scenic and the starter motor's gone. We've been told it's an an absolute swine of a job and it can't be done by the roadside.
Any comments, suggestions or help re the above

Unfortunately (unless you're lucky enough to know a mechanic who you can really trust to work efficiently) all I can suggest is phoning round lots of repairers and asking if they're prepared to give you a fixed price quotation for the job. (You won't gain anything from using a garage which charges £40 per hour, over one which charges £80 per hour, if the first one takes three times as long to do the job! Insist upon a fixed price).

I can tell you exactly. Many on the Renault forums are young kids .. so you have to look carefully.
It is not a pig of a job to do at all. The most awkward thing is disconnecting the main cable (preformed bolt on the main cable) .. and removing it .. as the exhaust manifold curves over it .. and it has to be moved along the lower rear block and dropped through gap by downpipe. The start trigger just pushes on.
The bolts (3) can be removed ok from engine bay with a short ext and ratchet, and there is a spigot on the motor to line it up.
The motor is tiny, so not heavy. Get the front of the car up for access underneath after the bolts removed.
