I've just inherited a new laptop and need to delete all the stuff thats on it (obviously not the major programes) Is the best way to just put into the Recycle Bin and then delete again from there (and un-install programes in the control panel) or is there another, easier way??

It may well have a partitioned hd with a manufactrures setting reset function. A lot do these days.
Just uninstall from Control Panel.
Don't delete programs from anywhere else .. or stick in Recycle bin!
Careful about removing Networking tools/connectivity software.
