Hello can i ask for some advice,my nephew as bank account, wanted to upgrade to another account to use on line.
Went to bank in early january 2011. to get advice etc, gave details of his ID and mine guardian.
Waited over three weeks no reply, went to bank, no details on system.
So went to another branch same bank ID details again, again no reply.
After contacting bank they sent reply saying error can you please contact us.
Just got back from bank, now this branch saying no details on our system?.
I asked were are the 2 sets of ID that were taken from 2 seperate branches ?.
Answer i don't know, they may have been shredded.
Can i ask what do i do to next ???.

I'm not sure why they'd take originals.
I'm not doubting you- I'm just surprised.
Did you get a receipt for them. Do they deny receiving them or have they accepted they've lost them.
I'd complain, but if you still want this account I'd take in more ID and insist they copy it, certify it and return it to you

Did you take the id into the branch or did you post them? If you took them into the branch i can't understand why they would keep them. They would take a copy and stamp it as original seen/certified copy. If you posted them they are usually scanned onto a holding system and the originals posted back.
I assume, if what you say is correct (and I have to say it does sound a little odd), that the ID you took was simply a copy of a household bill or a Council Tax Demand, because you wouldn't have had two passports or drivers licences to show as ID, would you?
Maybe, next time, don't leave the originals with them?
